It’s a little bit less egregious from the side, but still pretty fun to compare:

Well, at least the van has an excuse. It’s a van, it’s supposed to be big. The size difference between the classic Mini and some random 2-row bloated crossover is the most painful to me.

It’s a little misleading with my truck being in the foreground, but you can still see that the roofline is even with my hood.

You can literally put the Mini in the back of the van.

It doesn’t hurt as much, but this one always makes me smile:
Size Comparison: Classic Mini vs Chevy Sonic

I’ve shown this picture to a number of people, and this is usually the first thing they say. The owner of the van said the same thing (and he was cool with the picture, too).

That’s awesome! And terrifying!
I have a lifted Impreza Wagon as well, and it’s hilarious how they look next to each other. The Mini is getting lowered in the next week or two, as well.

This is fun...

If the two row crossover you’re referring to is the silver one in the first picture, I’d say as a Cadillac it has an excuse as well - that excuse being “Cadillac”.

I wasn’t referring to any specific car, but the Cadillac fits the bill.

I have a funny picture of the Tercel parked next to a Suburban. Not quite as drastic but still made me giggle when I walked out of the gas station and saw it.

Thank you, that one was mine for 3 years ;-)

Yeah I think we’ve talked on here before. I’ve got an ‘04 Lariat. Love it to death. Just out of curiosity, what state did you import it from?

Loved it very much. Couldn’t keep up with it’s fuel consumption and my yearly mileage though. And parking was a hassle with parking spots maxed to 5 meters over here ;-)
Mine was an ‘06 FX4. Got it from Florida. Still miss it.

Haha I'm sure man. I can only imagine how fun it was to drive it there. I doubt you ever saw another one on the road either

To be fair, the Sonic is a whole size class above the Mini, even today (subcompact vs city car).

I’m not sure that a “city car” is even a class in the US, other than maybe the Smart. Even the Scion iQ has been discontinued.
And for reference:
(okay, that’s a bit misleading )

We do get a few of them now - Smart ForTwo, Fiat 500, Chevy Spark, MINI Hardtop/Convertible, Mitsubishi Mirage Hatchback (Mirage Sedan is bigger). The discontinued Scion iQ and Mitsubishi iMiEV also qualified.
